I'm currently on a quest to finish all of these sketchbooks that I have accumulated over the years.
The other day I came across a watercolor sketchbook that I bought a few years ago. It was the Stillman and Birn Beta edition with the cream color pages. I was so happy when I bought it but was too intimated to use it because it was pretty expensive for a sketchbook. I would really only take notes in it and it got to the point where I just put it away.
I'm not really one to rip out pages in a sketchbook because I don't like the way it impacts the binding but I also don't like look at sketchbook pages that I'm not happy with. I'll erase over them, paint over them, or just straight up glue a new page onto it.
This morning I did three paintings in gouache over a bunch of notes that I had taken and I love the new pages. They make me so happy and I feel really inspired to work on something when I flip through the sketchbook now. If you look really closely you can see the leftovers of past sketches and notes.
